Bright Poppies Placemats

This is a set of 4 placemats. I love the brightly colored poppies and machine quilted around each of the individual poppies of the patterned fabric.

For Amelia

I made another for quilt this Spring. It was for Amelia Jacquelyn Lougy, my youngest Granddaughter. She is 18mo old now. Funny thing, not really, is that the quilt was brought downstairs from her room to 'show off' and somehow the dog thought it was meant for him to CHEW on....so it seemed to be destroyed. I took it home and repaired it the best I could.
The pictures shown are the original quilt. To repair it I had to completly cut the border off and just add new binding-no border now. I also had to repair a small tooth ridden section on the back of the quilt.
Perhaps when she is older, Amelia will appreciate the work put into a quilt... I love her anyway....
The quilt is 100% cotton fabrics for the front. The back is Pink cloud print flannel. I did machine quilting of umbrellas and flowers to each individual block in an original design. Each of the blocks are finished with a varigated lace that was applied over the seams.

The second quilt of 2008

Went to my Grandson Rielly. He wanted a room with "race car" colors et al...so I went to my favorite quilt/fabric store and picked out 14 different fabrics to make a pieced quilt for him. It was indeed a Crazy quilt and so was named "crazy wheels". The backing is the reason for the name 'wheels'. However, i lovingly pieced 13 different pieces and sizes of fabric for each block of the crazy wheels and in between each of the pieced blocks is a solid fabric of red/white.
I was able to totally machine quilt it at home, using my very wonderful Bernina sewing machine, and did a random pattern all over the piece. It turned out wonderfully and I am happy with the results, as I hope Rielly was.
Here is a photo of the labor of love....From Gramma Jackie

Family Wall Quilt

Don't know where it went but will repost the Family wall.

OK mistake seen

Well last night when I posted the Family Wall....I failed to turn the last photo to a vertical position. I turned the camera when I took it and never even thought about the positioning.
Now the next adventure in this 'blogging thing' is to figure out how to fix errors.
Some day I will have this whole thing mastered.

Don't really know what I am doing

Well, I am getting started. Brave Soul am I. I have daughters and sons that are using blog sites, so I decided to start one myself.
Now if you can give me any hints as to how to really make this worth the effort, I would appreciate the information and the help.

I plan to use the site to share my quiltmaking; cardmaking; and other crafts that I am involved in doing.

I will also use the site to share family updates-including my little dog "GiGi" who really does seem to run the life of this family.

Living in Arizona is the best of all places to live. We have over 350 days of sunshine- rarely to do we get snow- and most of the time that we get rain, it is so brief we tend to forget that we get it at all.

I love Lighthouses. They seem to be so interesting and have such great history. Each is a beacon to the world and offer great spiritual reflections. I am amazed with each of them.

I look forward to having this site be a journaling-so to speak. And I look forward to learning more about how it works.
